Vaughn Wiester (born July 11, 1945) is an American jazz musician and educator. Born in Abilene, Texas and raised in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Wiester began playing with local jazz bands in his teens. After studying music at Ohio State University, Wiester worked as a freelance trombonist for several years, notably with Woody Herman in the mid-1970s. Wiester has taught jazz studies at Capital University in Columbus (leaving that position in the early '90s), and has worked with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, the Kenley Players, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, the Rick Brunetto Big Band, Ernie Krivda's Fat Tuesday Big Band, and many others including his own big band, the Famous Jazz Orchestra. A friend of Bill Holman, Wiester is also a very talented arranger. Wiester performs with his Famous Jazz Orchestra on Monday nights at the Clintonville Women's Club, near the Park of Roses in Columbus, Ohio. ==References==
